Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute Programs

The Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (SICI) has announced programs for the year 2016-17 (Most programs are new initiatives of the Institute):

  1. Shastri Institutional Collaborative Research Grant (SICRG) – This grant is to support and encourage Institutional collaboration in R&D for a period of two years in the areas in which Institutions from SICI’s Indian and Canadian Member Council can benefit.
  2. Shastri Mobility Program (SMP)-for  Academicians & Administrators – is to provide an opportunity for senior faculty members / educational administrators from India and Canada to study and learn best practices through exposure to Indian or Canadian Institutions.
  3. Shastri Research Student Fellowship (SRSF) – for a) Doctoral, b) Postdoctoral and c) Students – The fellowship package will cover living allowance, Research Allowance (applicable to doctoral candidates only) Economy class airfare (by the most direct route), visa fee / compliance fee, student registration / affiliation fee & overseas insurance
  4. Faculty-In-Residence Program (FIR)/ Global Initiative For Academic Network (GIAN)  -for Canadian faculty members, scientists and entrepreneurs who would be willing to take up engagements at Indian institutions for 1 or 2 weeks.

Focus Areas: The focus areas are from all domains of studies like Social Sciences; Humanities; Arts; Commerce & Management, STEM subjects including Food Security and Sustainable Development; Water Resource Management; Gender; Bi-lateral Trade and Investment; Energy and Environmental Sciences including the Renewal Energy; Securing Future of Children and Youth; Higher Education; Agricultural Science & Technology; Teacher Education and Training; Health Sciences; Nursing; Marine Sciences and Ocean Studies.  These programs will be beneficial for the adoption of new methods of pedagogy, boosting research in cutting-edge technologies and building stronger academic networks between both countries.
