NSERC Discovery Grants

REVISION: Due to an intermittent issue with the Canadian Common CV website, the deadline for submitting the Notification of Intent to Apply (NOI) for a Discovery Grant or Subatomic Physics Grant to NSERC has been extended to Tuesday August 6 at 8 PM (ET). NSERC will continue to monitor the system and provide updates as required. Those unaffected by this issue are encouraged to continue to submit their NOI.

If your research falls in the area of science or engineering you may be eligible to apply for funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC). NSERC’s Discovery Grants Program assists in promoting and maintaining a diversified base of high-quality research capability in the natural sciences and engineering

Deadlines:
NSERC Notification of Intent (NOI) MANDATORY: August 6 by/before 8PM.
Faculty Research Office: 5 days prior to agency deadline. (If you wish to have feedback on your application allow at least one week – contact Karen Kueneman)
Research Western & ROLA: 5 days prior to agency deadline
NSERC Full Application: Nov. 1 @ 2PM

Description: The Discovery Grants Program supports ongoing programs of research (with long-term goals) rather than a single short-term project or collection of projects. These grants recognize the creativity and innovation that are at the heart of all research advances. Discovery Grants are considered ‘grants in aid’ of research as they provide long term operating funds to support the costs of a research program. As a grant in aid of research, Discovery Grants are not meant to support the full costs of a research program and they can facilitate access to funding from other programs.

The NOI module is now available in the Research Portal.

A Canadian Common CV is required at both the NOI and application stages.

NSERC will be hosting webinars on how to complete a NOI to assist the research community. Consult the webinars page for dates. Refer to the Resource Video for a demo.
