Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in Research – Training Webinar from BrainsCAN

The BrainsCAN Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee invites all Western University researchers to attend an EDI in Research training webinar hosted by Nicole Kaniki, EDI Specialist.

More than ever, we are aware of the inequities that exist for underrepresented groups like women, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, and others. It continues to be the responsibility of those within these research spaces to ensure that we allow equitable access for participation from these groups, and additionally, to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for everyone to thrive.

Each session will include education on the basic concepts of EDI, and we will work through principles and best practices of equity and inclusion, and how these can be applied in the lab and research environment. Additionally, we will also address the upcoming EDI requirements for research grants (e.g. NSERC, CIHR, SSHRC). If you are applying for any upcoming research grants, we will have opportunities for Q&A after the presentation to discuss these. Each session will be two hours which includes the time for the Q&A session. There are 2 sessions scheduled for July.

Details for the sessions are as follows:

When:             8 July 2020
                        30 July 2020
Where:            Zoom meeting
Time:               10:00 am EST (2hrs)
