Interdisciplinary Development Initiatives (IDIs) at Western

Description: The Interdisciplinary Development Initiatives Program (IDIs) provides seed funding for projects that further Western’s research and teaching mission, attract scholars and graduate students to our University, and bring prestige to Western. These IDIs, led by leading or emerging academic scholars, have articulated undergraduate, graduate and research dimensions, and involve the participation and collaboration of individuals across disciplinary boundaries.

Amount: Up to $1 million will be allocated to projects in 2017

Deadline Dates:
January 13, 2017: Project leader(s) must submit the proposal to the Host and Participating Faculty Deans’ offices
February 3, 2017 – Proposals must be submitted through the Host Dean’s Office to the Office of the Vice-Provost(Academic Planning, Policy and Faculty)

NOTE:  Each Dean from a Faculty listed on the application must submit a “Confirmation of Participation/Dean’s Rating Letter” by the closing date.  This form is to be provided to the Provost’s Office under separate cover from the Full Proposal.  Dean’s ratings will remain confidential. The IDI proposal leader(s) are responsible for ensuring that all participating Faculties receive a copy of the proposal by the Faculty due date.
