The Canadian Institute of Health Research’s (CIHR) Foundation Grant program is designed to contribute to a sustainable foundation of health research leaders, by providing long-term support for the pursuit of innovative and high-impact research programs.
Amount: commensurate with need – expected to vary by research field, research approach, and scope of program activities (over 5- 7 years)
Deadlines:
Registration Deadline: Aug 8, 2017
Faculty Research Office: at least 1 week prior to agency deadline (2-3 weeks if you wish feedback on your application – submit to Karen Kueneman)
Research Western: TBA (ROLA and draft proposal)
Application Deadline (Stage 1): Sep 12, 2017 (Anticipated Notice of Decision -Dec 7, 2017)
Application Deadline (Stage 2): Feb 6, 2018 (Anticipated Notice of Decision – July 17, 2018)
Funding Start Date: Jul 1, 2018
Eligibility: Open to applicants in all areas of health research that are aligned with the CIHR mandate: “To excel, according to internationally accepted standards of scientific excellence, in the creation of new knowledge and its translation into improved health for Canadians, more effective health services and products and a strengthened Canadian health care system”.
