The objective of the Shastri Research Grant (SRG) is to support collaborative research projects entailing academic mobility as well as capacity building between Indian and Canadian institutions. The research projects conducted in all disciplines of study supported by our member universities ranging from Social Sciences and Humanities to STEM (sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics), business, management, etc. are eligible for seeking funds from this and all other SICI programs. The research themes involving partnership of teams composed of at least one Indian and one Canadian member institution of SICI, which addresses any issue pertinent to one or both the countries would be eligible for funding by this program. The research themes may also address issues of relevance to businesses and industries or other users of this knowledge.
Value: Up to CAD$ 5,000/per project. Possibility of up to $8000 (Contributions from the applicants’ institutions are encouraged).

Faculty Research Office: 1 week prior to agency deadline (2-3 weeks if you wish feedback on your application – submit to Karen Kueneman)
Research Development & Services: no less than 5 days prior to agency deadline.

Shastri Scholar Travel Subsidy Grants (SSTSG) SSTSG assist faculty members and graduate students with travel subsidies to participate in conferences, workshops, seminars and academic meetings within and between India and Canada with a view to establishing institutional and scholarly linkages.
Value: The Shastri Institute will provide up to CAD $1,000 to support the scholar’s international air fare (economy class). Associated costs related to visas, meals, per diem and accommodation are not eligible under this grant.
