Description: Funding is intended for teams working in formal collaboration between post-secondary institutions and/or organizations of various types. Partnership Development Grants provide support over one to three years to teams/partnerships, led by a project director, to: 1) develop research and related activities in the social sciences and humanities, including knowledge mobilization and the meaningful involvement of students and new scholars, by fostering new partnerships for research and related activities involving existing and/or potential partners; or 2) design and test new partnership approaches for research and/or related activities that may result in best practices or models that either can be adapted by others or have the potential to be scaled up to a regional, national or international level.
Partnerships may be between academic institutions, or between one or more academic institutions and one or more non-academic partner organizations. These partner organizations agree and commit to work collaboratively to achieve shared goals for mutual benefit. Partner organizations must provide evidence attesting to the commitment that has been agreed upon.
NOTE: While SSHRC CVs are required for the project director and co-applicants they are not required for collaborators.
Eligibility: A Principal Investigator (PI) must be eligible to hold a research account at Western. An individual may not, in a calendar year, submit, as applicant (principal investigator/project director), an application for both an Partnership Development Grant and a Partnership Grant.
Applications: Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development & Services and are to be accompanied by a completed ROLA. Applications and instructions are available through the SSHRC website.
Additional details and program information are available on the Research Western website.
