Faculty Writing Support Program – Autumn Events

Workshop: Making Space for Research During the Academic Year Friday Oct 18th
12:00-1:30 PM
UC 1105

In this workshop for Western faculty members and post-docs, you will identify your personal and professional goals for the academic year, create a strategic plan to accomplish them, examine and implement realistic scheduling practices, and identify the types of support and accountability you need to make this your most productive and balanced year ever. As a group, we’ll identify situations that exacerbate research stress; suggest strategies to avoid those mistakes; and challenge you to take a few small steps forward to start gaining some control over your time and productivity.

Autumn Reading Break Writing Retreat
Mon Nov 4th and Tues Nov 5th
9:00 AM- 4:00 PM
UC 2105

Enjoy the short and long-term benefits of two days of uninterrupted time to focus on your writing, working alongside your colleagues in a beautiful, light-filled room. We will set personal goals for each day and discuss progress at lunchtime, but otherwise the bulk of our time will be spent working independently on our writing. Coffee, snacks, and lunch are provided on both days, so there is absolutely nothing else to think about. **To make this retreat effective, we can only welcome 30 faculty members at this time. If you can only come for one day, please indicate which day when you apply. We will also accept applications from anyone off-campus wishing to participate remotely.

Please apply for a space at these events through the Faculty Writing Support Program’s webpage: https://www.uwo.ca/research/services/faculty_writing%20support.html
