The federal government has announced major future investments in Canada’s digital research infrastructure. As part of this investment, a new digital research infrastructure organization (NDRIO) will be mandated to manage many aspects of research computing, including data management, advanced computing resources, and components of the software layer.
This emerging organization is seeking input from the research community, and has organized a number of consultation sessions online. A list of the dates and times for these virtual sessions as well at the connection information (via Zoom) can be found below.
These consultations are the next step towards implementation of the DRI Contribution program with approved funding from the federal Minister of Science of up to $375 million. This program will be governed by a not for profit organization that will coordinate funding and strategic directions for national activities related to: research data management; advanced research computing, and research software.
Building on the feedback received during the development of the proposal in the spring and the face-to-face sessions held in September and October, these virtual sessions will gather additional input and comment from the community on governance issues including membership and board composition.
If you are unable to attend, you can also provide comments and input to the process by email to info@engagedri.ca or stay informed by visiting www.engagedri.ca for further information and updates on the implementation of this initiative.
Community engagement is critical for the successful implementation of a researcher-focused DRI ecosystem in Canada. Please consider participating and providing input in this important engagement process.
