The Royal Society of Canada (RSC) offers a variety of prestigious medals and awards each year recognizing outstanding achievements of Canadian scholars. In 2023 the following medals and awards are open for competition in the humanities and social sciences:
Medal or Award | Details |
Pierre Chaveau Medal | For a distinguished contribution to knowledge in the humanities other than Canadian literature and Canadian history |
Yvan Allaire Medal (Medal + $5,000) | Awarded in recognition of an outstanding contribution in the governance of public and private organizations |
Sir John William Dawson Medal (interdisciplinary) | For important and sustained contributions in two domains of interest to the RSC or in interdisciplinary research |
Eligibility:
- Nominees must be Canadian citizens or have been Canadian residents for the past three years
- Nominees are not required to be a Fellow of the RSC
- Nominations must be made by either a Fellow of the RSC or the President of the University
Deadlines:
Internal – for institutional nominations: January 30, 2023; The process of securing and acquiring the nomination letter must be managed through the Research Development office. Email rwprizes@uwo.ca with the name of your candidate and the RSC Medal or Award
External – final submission to the RSC: March 31, 2023
