Robbins-Ollivier Award for Excellence in Equity

This award provides funding to a faculty member or team of faculty members nominated by an eligible institution to fund bold internal EDI initiatives. The initiatives should identify persistent systemic barriers with the nominating institution and innovative measures that could change the status quo in the long term.

Amount: $100,000 over one year

Eligibility: To be eligible for nomination, the faculty member(s) must:

  • Hold a full-time academic appointment at the institution at the time of nomination and for the duration of the award;
  • Be eligible to receive grant funding from CIHR, NSERC and/or SSHRC; and
  • Be in good standing with CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC.

Current, former and non-Canada Research Chairs are all eligible. Institutional administrators who are eligible to hold grant funding from the agencies are also eligible for nomination.

NOTE: Institutions may only submit one nomination in a given year.

Internal: Wednesday, August 16, 2023 by 5pm ESTInternal submission deadline – submissions sent to the Program Administrator must include: 
The Robbins-Ollivier nomination form
Description of proposed project (1 page)
Proposed budget (1/2 page)
Nominees will be notified by September 8, 2023.  
External: Tuesday, November 7, 2023 by 8pm ESTFinal submission to the Canada Research Chairs program by Western Research.
