International Travel – New Service at Western – International SOS

If you or your students are planning to travel abroad to conduct research, attend a conference, or participate in an international experiential learning activity, this International Learning Community session will provide information about International SOS, the system for safety abroad that Western International has invested in. Please see below for details and registration. The session is organized and sponsored by the FIMS Teaching Fellow, Western International, and the Teaching Support Centre.

International SOS Information Session

April 21st, 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm.

Please Register by April 15th. Link to registration is below.

Location: The Chu Centre, International and Graduate Affairs Building (second floor). Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Information about the session: Western International has invested in global medical and security assistance through International SOS. This program is designed to keep faculty and students healthy, safe, and secure while they are traveling or living abroad.

Crystal Stewart (Senior Client Service Manager) and Jamie Sawyer (Business Development Director & National Director, Account Management) from International SOS will provide a 15-minute overview of their services, followed by a Q&A. They will also place a ‘test call’ to International SOS so that attendees can hear first-hand how the assistance centre responds to a call from a traveler.

Company overview: “International SOS provides medical, security and logistical expertise to help safeguard our international travelers. So, if you lose your medication in Sydney, need to see a doctor in New Delhi, get pick-pocketed in Paris or, in a more serious circumstance, as in a serious accident, you should immediately contact International SOS.Travelers can conveniently dial one phone number (or access the Assistance App) that will connect them to the International SOS network of medical and professional service teams that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, all over the world.”
