Focus: This workshop is designed to provide an overview of the US federal research funding opportunities available to Canadian researchers and institutions.

Topics covered will include information about federal funding sponsors, with some specific detail on the National Institutes of Health (NIH), including:

  • Finding and understanding the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA)
  • What is different between Canadian and US federal funding processes, reviews and requirements?
  • Understanding different application types for National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding
  • How to read and interpret guidelines
  • Guidance on Sponsor websites and systems
  • Processes and timelines for application preparation, submissions and receipt of funding (with detail on both Sponsor and Western processes)
  • US federal compliance and regulations
  • Training requirements
  • Q&A
