Permanent identifier – ORCID, the Open Researcher and Contributor ID, is suggested as a good tool to ensure recognition for the scholarly work undertaken by faculty members.

Western Libraries offers workshops for faculty about setting up ORCID profiles. They can assist with understanding how the world of permanent identifiers, like ORCID, ScopusID, DOIs, and ROR, work. As members of ORCID-Canada, they have access to the affiliation manager, with which they can push verified affiliation information to the ORCID profiles of Western researchers.
