Description: Insight Grants support research excellence in the social sciences and humanities. Funding is available to both emerging and established scholars for long-term research initiatives which may be undertaken by an individual or a team of researchers working in collaboration.
Eligibility: Applicants must hold an eligible academic research appointment at Western.
Funding Streams: Applicants choose from one of two streams, depending on the amount of funding required. Both streams will be adjudicated by the same committees, and will receive the same rigorous level of merit review. The deadlines and application process are identical for both; however, the targeted success rate for Stream A will be higher than that of Stream B.
PILOT Interdisciplinary Review extended: Insight Grant applicants whose research spans the mandate of more than one federal research funding agency (SSHRC, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research) can select a pilot Tri-Agency Interdisciplinary Peer Review Committee (TAIPR) for the 2023-24 Insight Grants competition. This pilot committee will use a harmonized tri-agency peer review process and evaluation criteria which differ from the usual process used by this funding opportunity.
ROLA must be completed for your application to be forwarded to SSHRC.
SSHRC Webinar: SSHRC is organizing two webinars for applicants and research administrators to provide information concerning the upcoming IG October 2023 competition via WebEx, including a question answer session. Advance registration is not required. Detailed information on the webinars:
