The 2017 Insight Development Grants (IDG) funding application is now available.
Description: Insight Development Grants support research in its initial stages. The grants enable the development of new research questions, as well as experimentation with new methods, theoretical approaches and/or ideas. Funding is provided for short-term research development projects, of up to two years, proposed by individuals or teams. Insight Development Grants foster research in its early stages, but are not intended to support large-scale initiatives.
Deadlines:
January 13, 2017: Draft of proposal due – the Research Officer will facilitate an internal peer review if you meet this deadline
January 20, 2017: Faculty deadline – full proposal (will be reviewed again by the Research Officer)
January 27, 2017, 5:00 pm: Research Development & Services
February 3, 2017, 2:00 pm: SSHRC (results available by June 2017)
Amount: $7,000 up to $75,000
Eligibility: Both emerging and established scholars who are affiliated with an eligible Canadian post-secondary institution are eligible to apply. A Principal Investigator (PI) must be eligible to hold a research account at Western.

NOTE: This competition uses the Canadian Common CV (CCV). Applicants and co-applicants are encouraged to complete their SSHRC CCV as soon as possible. Applicants should expect that creating a SSHRC CCV for the first time will require a significant time investment.
