Fulbright Opportunities for Canadian Scholars in the US for Academic Year 2021/2022

For 2021/2022, Fulbright Canada is offering several Research opportunities at top US Institutions. 

The grants support research with colleagues across the U.S. for a 4 to 9-month period. Applications are accepted through November 15th, 2020.

More information on the awards:

Eligibility requirements: Be CA citizen (Permanent residence is not sufficient) do not have dual US citizenship Hold a terminal degree (Ph.D., LLM, MFA, etc.) or equivalent professional training or experience Applicants who have resided abroad for five or more consecutive years in the six-year period preceding the application deadline are ineligible. A period of nine months or more during a calendar year constitutes a full year. Recipients of a Fulbright Scholar, award are eligible to apply for another award two years after the date of completion of the previous award. Detailed Eligibility requirements are available here.

Additional Opportunity for Canadian Scholars with application open until September 15, 2020

Fulbright Arctic Initiative: US$40,000 for 18-months (March 2021- Fall 2022) engaged in addressing public policy research questions relevant to Arctic nations’ shared challenges.  

The Fulbright Arctic Initiative will identify both established experts and early-career specialists from the eight Arctic Council countries to carry out collaborative research in the following themes:

  • Arctic Security and Cooperation
  • Arctic Infrastructure in a Changing Environment
  • Community Dimensions of Health.
