In collaboration with Research Finance, Western Research will be continuing their practice of providing extensions for certain internal grants in light of COVID-19-related delays to research. To improve efficiencies and reduce workload, automatic 1-year extensions will be provided for applicable internal grants (detailed below) with start dates on or after January 1, 2019 and end dates between January 31, 2022 and June 30, 2022. Any grants with start dates prior to January 1, 2019 and end dates between January 31, 2022 and June 30, 2022 must request an extension by emailing intgrant@uwo.ca.
Applicable internal awards:
- Western Research Catalyst Grants (competition cycles 1 & 2)
- Western Strategic Support (all programs)
- New International Research Networks
- SSHRC Explore & Exchange
- GRF residual awards (e.g. NSERC and SSHRC residual funds)
Awards excluded from this provision include internal departmental or faculty awards, FRDF, Western Innovation Fund, and donor-sponsored programs. Program-specific requirements apply to extensions for these programs.
Formal extension requests to Western Research Internal Grants are not required for awards that fall into the appliable categories as extensions will be applied by Research Finance. Specific inquiries should be directed to Western Research at intgrant@uwo.ca. PIs are responsible for ensuring any applicable certifications are kept up to date.
