Human Research Ethics from a Research on Teaching and Learning Perspective

In this online session, Katelyn Harris, an Ethics Officer with the Non-Medical Research Ethics Board (NMREB), will provide an overview of research ethics considerations for faculty members who do research on their teaching. She will orient attendees to the federal and institutional mandates for conducting research with humans, highlight the process for obtaining REB approval, direct attendees to useful resources, provide specific recommendations to address common issues in conducting research on teaching and learning, and answer any questions you may have.

Research on Teaching and Learning Retreat

Join the Research on Teaching and Learning Retreat, a one-day working retreat designed to help faculty members, librarians, and archivists move their research on teaching and learning (RTL) projects forward, regardless of where they might be in their research process (e.g., generating a research question, searching the literatures, conducting analyses, writing). Participants will workshop their projects with the other retreat participants and have dedicated time to work individually on their own projects. Experienced RTL researchers will facilitate the retreat and will also provide individual consultation as requested. Enrolment is limited. Lunch will be provided.
