Program Overview:
Funded by the Provost and the Vice-President (Research), Western’s updated Interdisciplinary Development Initiatives (IDI) program is intended to seed new interdisciplinary collaborations and support and grow nascent and existing interdisciplinary collaborations.
The application process includes an adjudicated LOI and a full application by invitation only. For further information on the application process and adjudication criteria, please see the program guidelines.
What this program is for:
- Catalyzing the activities of Emerging Teams
- Expanding the activities of Established Teams
What this program is not for:
- Undergraduate or graduate program proposals (refer to the Academic Priorities Fund)
- Sustaining existing infrastructure or programs
- Supporting the direct costs of research activities
Funding:
Western will invest up to $4 million over 4 years in IDIs, with a notional investment of $1 million/year. IDIs will be considered under two streams:
- Stream 1: Emerging teams: Maximum $25,000 over one year
- Stream 2: Established teams: Maximum $200,000 over two years
